We are delighted to announce that we are in the process of opening our second site!
Our new location at John Muir will welcome children aged 0–12 years.
In addition to providing high-quality childcare, we are thrilled to introduce East Lothian’s first-ever Outdoor Training Centre! Here, you’ll have the opportunity to gain your Forest School qualifications. Whether you’re considering a career change, looking to join our fantastic team, or simply want to enhance your outdoor skills, we invite you to train with us.
Our passionate Outdoor Team will also be offering support and guidance to homeschooling families, helping them deliver exceptional outdoor education experiences for the next generation of little explorers.
This exciting expansion marks our rebranding from Dunbar Private Nursery to Dunbar Outdoor Learning — a reflection of our commitment to leading the way in outdoor education across East Lothian.

At Dunbar Outdoor Learning, we are deeply committed to sustainability and reducing our environmental footprint. Caring for the planet is at the heart of everything we do.
☀️ We generate our own electricity through solar panels.
🌿 We prioritise eco-friendly products and work to reduce disposable, single-use items.
♻️ Many of our resources are reused or donated by local families and shops.
🚲 We use an e-bike to transport children around Dunbar for our outdoor adventures — a fun, sustainable, and low-emission way to travel!
🛍️ When new materials are needed, we shop locally to support our community and small businesses.
💚 We also give back by donating to local charity shops whenever possible.
By embracing sustainability in our daily practice, we not only reduce our impact on the environment but also teach children the importance of caring for our planet—instilling lifelong values through real-world, eco-friendly actions. One little footprint at a time!
